Belinda Blignaut
Emerging in the early 1990s, Belinda Blignaut (b.1968, South Africa) was one of the group of young experimental artists whose work served as a commentary on the social and political uncertainty of South Africa. Blignaut’s work suggests a quiet urgency for social change.
She creates varied series of works with her body, earth and organic matter. In looking to create from a deeper source, she works with what she forages in nature. She seeks chance, unknowns and natural reactions through series of transformations in this honest and raw terrain, a quiet visceral investigation into life and the creative process.
