Lliezel Ellick

Lliezel spends much of her energy gaining access to difficult spaces and convincing those around her that they should host performances there. Known to sweep asbestos in a hazmat suit while searching for a stage for exploratory music, she strongly believes in magic and attempting the impossible.

Musically, she hacks away at a cello and her vocal cords, but pride — and perhaps foolishness — have prevented her from recording any of her solo work. Past projects include Thylasine, AsIs, Emmaleen Tangleweed, Coffin Soup and Ootheca. She is currently part of the ensemble venacava.

Outside of music, Lliezel is a body modification practitioner focused on developing procedures to help clients achieve physical autonomy through altering their human form.

Lliezel first met the other founding members of SENSA around a decade ago. After stepping away from the organising team for several years, she has returned with more improbable ideas and the same commitment to creating sound experiences in unusual places.
